Do your beneficiaries know how to access your
online accounts?
Many would have to say no to this important question. Though many
companies send these details to next of kin when requested, they can
require reams of paperwork and lengthy waits. To avoid a similar
problem, compile a list of usernames and passwords, not just for
financial sites but for email accounts, social sites and commercial
sites.
Be sure to store the list in a
secure location such as a safety deposit box. There are some secure
websites that offer a service to store this information. Selected
beneficiaries can then access the accounts using secure links and
passwords. Just be sure to research any website that offers this
type of service before giving them this personal information. |
